What is a Mother Blessing?
Traditionally a Blessing-way (which is where the inspiration for a Mother Blessing began), is an ancient Navajo ritual from North America, designed to mark the important, and life changing transformation the pregnant woman is about to embark on.
The focus is on the mother rather than the baby.
When you become a mother, you move through a significant rite of passage, an initiation that requires strength, courage and adaptability.
A mother blessing is a way to honour the transition that you are about to experience, to bring sacredness and respect, to the process of one human being becoming two.
Regardless of your belief system or spiritual practice, the ceremony is to serve as a reminder that you are about to do something beautiful and important.

It really does take a village to raise a child
“The natural process of birth sets the stage for parenting. Birth and parenting mirror each other. While it takes courage and strength to cope with labour and birth, it also takes courage and strength to parent a child.” –Marcy White
